Fall Foliage

Different kinds of trees turn different colors in the fall. Hickory trees turn yellow.

Pumpkins are a symbol of fall. Some people carve jack o' lanterns for Halloween by cutting out a face on the pumpkin. I like to leave mine whole!

  • Americans like to use pumpkins for decoration more than they like to eat them. Although pumpkin pie is a traditional Thanksgiving dessert, many people don't care for it. Some people like pumpkin bread or cake, too. However, pumpkin is more versatile than we think. I found this website with a lot of different receipes, some savory: http://www.clemson.edu/fieldops/CGS/hallow3.htm

A "sugar pumpkin" is a small eating pumpkin. The larger jack o' lantern kinds may not make such good eating.

  • Hello, Nina!
I love eating pumpukins just as Jennifer does! I really love pumpkin puddings and pumpkin flavored ice cream. There are a lot of kinds of pumpukin desserts in fall, so that's one of the things I like about fall.

Also, your pictures of the leaves turning yellow are very beautiful!
